Thousands of jobs exist in a variety of environmental fields throughout the United States; job possibilities range from soil and water conservation and environmental consulting to waste water management, wildlife ecology, and remote sensing. Environmental Studies alumni are employed in environmental consulting and engineering firms working on environmental impact assessments or as technicians, safety officers, or field personnel. Others are employed in state, local and regional governmental agencies as resource specialists or in planning.

The Hugo Wall School of Urban and Public Affairs at Wichita State University is seeking a
qualified individual to serve as Program Manager for the Environmental Finance Center. This
individual will assist the EFC Director in all aspects of the Center, including program
administration, development and implementation.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in public administration, environmental science,
engineering or closely related field; experience in conducting educational seminars or other
professional development events; knowledge of water resource and infrastructure management;

with program areas such as yard waste and compost programming, general recycling support, fibers recycling,
hazardous waste disposal and so on. The incumbent will also provide outreach and educational activities to a
variety of audiences and target groups. Under direction of the WRR Supervisor, the incumbent will coordinate
assigned activities with other Public Works Department personnel, city departments/divisions and outside
agencies.

(Walnut Way) is a neighborhood association with a mission to sustain economically diverse and abundant communities through civic engagement, environmental stewardship and creating venues for prosperity. Walnut Way is the lead agency for the Lindsay Heights Neighborhood Initiative that aims to support the design and implementation of a comprehensive neighborhood driven quality-of-life plan.
SALARY: $30,000 – $37,000 commensurate with experience plus benefits
AREA OF FOCUS: Urban Agriculture, Sustainable Food Production, Environmental Education

TIME COMMITMENT: April-October: 45 hours per week; January- February: 35 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:
Walnut Way is seeking a full-time Urban Agriculture Coordinator to oversee production and operations in our Central City Milwaukee neighborhood-based campus. Walnut Way operates sub acre production gardens and orchards, teaching gardens, and educational programs. The Urban Agriculture Coordinator is responsible for the management, planning, and oversight of Walnut Way farming operations from land preparation through quality harvest including all aspects of organic vegetable, herb, flower and fruit production. Additionally, s/he is responsible for the coordination of Lindsay Heights neighborhood tree and garden installations. S/he is also responsible for organizing campus maintenance including snow removal and landscape upkeep.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
• The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of farm management experience, preferably at an urban or organic farm.
• Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers and working with diverse communities.
• Experience teaching youth and/or adults in a farm or garden setting.
• Interest and familiarity with issues relating to local food, food access, and sustainable agriculture, and a genuine appreciation of the urban environment.
• Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in all MS office applications required.
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, plant science, horticulture or a related field is preferred but not required.

The City of Lawrence seeks an intern to work part-time (April through May) and full-time summer (June through August 2011) for the Utilities Department Engineering Division. The intern will assist the Engineering Division staff with GIS and Civil Engineering tasks related to water and wastewater utility projects. This internship is for students interested in Geographic Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Cartography or related fields. Qualifications:
