Biography

Naupaka Zimmerman is an ecologist broadly interested in the intersection of microbial community and ecosystem ecology. His research lab focuses on the ecology of the plant microbiome, with a particular focus on asymptomatic foliar fungi (also known as fungal endophytes) in natural, urban, and agricultural settings using a combination of field work, molecular lab work, and computational analyses. He was born and raised in Hawai'i, has a B.A. from Harvard in Environmental Science, Public Policy, and Cultural Anthropology, and a PhD from Stanford in Biological Sciences (Ecology). Prior to coming to KU, he was a faculty member in the Biology Department at the University of San Francisco.
